Good ones....

Meeting Patrick Moore in the Sauchiehall Street John Menzies (A newsagent/book store). Sir Patrick is a very well known and repsected figure in the field of astronomy and has presented the longest running factual show in the world (The Sky at Night), since 1957.

The definition of the term eccentric English gentleman, he wasn't doing a signing, just genuinely passing through looking for a book to read, but when I approached him he was utterly charming. Instead of signing my (hastily purchased) notepad he insisted on producing one of his own calling cards and signed that for me.

Meeting Clive Barker at a book signing. After queuing for about three or four hours I found him to still be in good spirits and chatty as he signed, at my suggestion, the two copies of the Hellbound Heart (Source material for Hellraiser) I'd just bought with the phrases "Take the money" (for me) and "Open the Box" (for my little brother).

Meeting Jon Pertwee, at all.

Ray Park was terribly nice to everyone when they came to see him at a convention, just before SW1 came out.

Meeting Will Eisner, a genuine legend in the history of the development of American comic strips.

The voice cast of Beast Wars at Botcon 98. Not just Scott McNeil, Garry Chalk, Doug Parker and David Kaye, but Susan freakin Blu, owner of one of the sexiest voices on earth!!

They were universally loving the adulation of the fanbase, and they were all doing a Scottish accent (With varying degrees of success) as soon as the heard my accent, as I went along the table for autographs.

Worst one...

Meeting Kate O'Mara in Glasgow, she was very polite and clearly had time to chat, but I was very tired, and I feel I wasted an opportunity to ask a few Dr Who questions. Sighh
