Funnily enough, I just read the chapter on "The Kindly Ones" in the Sandman companion last night......apparently Neil Gaiman intended it to be about six issues or so, but then decided to pace it better for book form and decided it would take as long as it took.....namely, 13 issues.

I agree on the excellent storytelling: some brilliant characters. I have a friend who is heavily into DC comics and gets more of the references (I didn't even know John Dee existed outside of Sandman) but it is still an excellent story.

So question for you, Icon, and you as well DS - what would be your favourite Sandman story?
