Had two. Mr. Ace, English, who taught me not to accept everything at face value. I don't remember anything I read in his class but I still remember a critical thinking exercise he conducted that involved repeated use of the phrase "But what if I told you that..." after asking us if something was good or bad. I also remember when he told our class that he had to quit teaching at Central because he wasn't being paid enough to support his family. Second was Mrs. Lohff, Math. The ONLY math teacher I ever had after grade school who was able to make math make some sense to me. It was like an Awakening. Trig was crystal clear. Then next year I returned to the fog, never to understand math again. Plus, she used to call Uwe Bobrow "You" which I found pretty funny at the time. Got to give Mr. Bishop an honorable mention for longevity. I first encountered him at Elmwood Elementary, where he taught me how to make sounds on a metal clarinet. Followed him to Bellevue and then to Central. I never was much good on the clarinet but enjoyed being in band and learning something about music.
