Even if this article is true and these men were communists, I believe that Christ would have favored a communist economy over capitalism. Capitalism is as anti-Christian a system as could exist. While Jesus taught to love your neighbor as yourself, capitalism requires you to benefit yourself at the expense of your neighbor. While Jesus taught that a rich man had as much hope of getting into Heaven as a camel has of making it through the eye of a needle, capitalism provokes man to horde his wealth. At the same time, communism's premise is that from an economic standpoint every person is a component of the system. They work together for the benefit of each other. Wealth is not important in communism. Sure, pure communism is inherently flawed, but the same can be said of pure democracy and pure capitalism. The fact of the matter, though, is that you cannot question the Christian faith of a man like Martin Luther King, Jr. who exuded Christian principles because he may or may not have subscribed to communism.
