Hi! I saw your posting on Cleveland Family Forums. My wife was Nancy Sue Freeny. Her grandmother, Nancy Freeman Cleveland, was the sister of your grandfather, Leonard Franklin Cleveland. That makes you second cousins. We live in Freeny, Leake County, MS. I was researching the Clevelands when I found your post. I may not be much help. I do have Elijah Alexander's father as Alexander (15 Dec 1814 - 7 Nov 1900). He married, in 1837, Nancy Davis (20 Aug 1817 - 12 Jan 1904). After that it gets murky. I have seen Alexander's father as William, who was the grandfather of Pres. Steven Grover Cleveland. My son says that his research shows Alexander's father to be Jacob, Jr. As to documentation, I haven't found any to prove it either way. If we can prove which connection is correct, there is an abundance of information on the web to take either line back to England.

If interested, you can go to my website at: http://www.joesue.com/.

I hope we are able to identify the father of Alexander, as this seems to be the missing link to open up the whole story.
