I just saw the movie "Blackhawk Down". At the end of the movie among the credits were the names of the Rangers killed during the crash and rescue. One of those killed was S/Sgt William Cleveland. Can anyone tell me where he fits into the "tree"?

Hiya, Cousin ~
I haven't found out where this William Cleveland fits into the tree, but I did browse online to see what I could find. In a future issue of the newsletter, I will share some of what I found, but the story is, unfortunately, not a pretty one. Our *cousin* was one of those killed, and his body was mutilated and dragged through the streets. A couple of sites had the gruesome photograph. If you use the Google search engine (www.google.com) and type in *Black Hawk Down Cleveland* and *Bill Cleveland Somalia,* you will come up with some of the same sites I did. I have also ordered the book *Black Hawk Down* to see what additional information I can find there. If anyone else has any leads, please let me know.

Love and blessings,
Vikki L. Jeanne Cleveland

Thanks for posting, Steve. For all my *cousins,* Steve has been a *tremendous* help to me with my research on SSG Cleveland. His site is one that respects the privacy and the feelings of the loved ones of those killed in Somalia, and Steve personally is very sensitive to their feelings. Please drop him a line and then visit his site.

Love and blessings,
Vikki

I appreciate all of your input also...some of the material from here has been posted at the site. The family would like to maintain their privacy though - so please make sure that if you wish to contact them - go thru me first. I appreciate your support and understanding. A very tragic story with horrible visions we all remember...so please remember they had to go through essentially all of the ugly things that the media and the nosy researchers could dish out...see you at the site.

Thanks - Steve

Just cruising thru and checking in on this nice tribute again. Feels good to see people never forget. The BHD website is going to be going thru an overhaul and will have a new address and a VERY different and better look. Be sure to watch your email for the address change next month.

Steve

P.S. It's UH-60...=-)
