I believe that my ancestor William Jasper Cleveland was the brother of martin Van Buren Cleveland. I am trying to find out any of the Ukiah information that I can. I had heard that my great grandfather Robert Lee Cleveland (b. 1857)(d.1929) in Ukiah had some kind of a mill there, also had several wives. Any info would be appreciated. thanks Linda Sampson

I have quite a bit of info on the Ukiah Clevelands that I received many years ago from the Mendocino County Library. It includes some info on William Jasper Cleveland (from whom my husband is a descendant) and his mill in Ukiah.
I am just beginning research again after a break of several years (and several moves) so it may take a short time for me to find everything - let me know if you're still looking.

I haven't been on the site in a long time. William J. Cleveland is my ggggrandfather. His son Robert L. Cleveland, (sounds like kind of a man of many trades), his son Grover Cleveland, his son Larry Cleveland, my father. I visited Ukiah, and got some info from the historical society, but I don't have a feel for the family. Seems as though there were a lot of suits regarding Robert Lee Cleveland.
