Well, it's not just that. Phonetically, the name is pronounced as /a;Ru'//bu'Reido'/ (where R represents the Japanese 'r' consonant which is midway between actual /r/ and /l/). I interpreted the name as Earl Blade, because Japanese doesn't have the /^e/ vowel (I'm typing ^e to represent to upside-down "e" used in the phonetic alphabet which I don't know how to type on my computer) and thus usually substitute /^e/ with /a;/. E.g.: Blurr (/bl^e;/) is pronounced as /bu'ra;/ in Japanese.

In order for the name to be interpreted as "Air Blade," then it would have to be /e^e//bleid/ (or /er//bleid/ in American pronunciation) which transliterates in Japanese phonetics as /ea;//bureido'/

So no... it's not "Air Blade" by any stretch of the imagination.

Dude... Rijie is a mispelling of Liger, and Liger was Mirage's Japanese G1 name, because he transformed into a Citanes Liger (aka Gitanes Ligier) JS11/15 F-1 race car. The Liger was a popular make of F1 race car in the Grand Prix from 1976-1996. It is a French vehicle with an original chassis, equipped with a Ford Cosworth DFV 3.0L V8 engine. The Liger was fitted with Goodyear tyres and had its oil supplied by Elf.

This is why G1 Liger/Mirage sports stickers that say "Citanes Liger" and "Elf."
