I know of at least one import store in Sydney who's selling it for $80 (approx US$40).

IMO, releasing God Jinrai in the West was also done because it's a cheaper alternative. I get the feeling that it would be cheaper to repackage remaining God Jinrai figures from Japan -- or even producing more from the same mould (with slight modifications, such as the missile), rather than having to ask Takara to reissue Powermaster Optimus Prime, which would have involved using the old Powermaster Prime cast - and if any of that cast has been damaged or lost in the last 14 years, then it would cost more to recast parts.

Still, I must admit that it is a cool move to release a Western version of God Jinrai as an upgraded form of Powermaster Prime. However I still think that TRU's pricing policy for these reissues are a bit steep - although asking US$50 (approx. AU$100) isn't as bad as asking AU$90 (US$45) for Starscream, which is how much I saw him for sale at TRU last weekend. I bought the toy on impulse, and after walking about 20 metres from TRU, my mind just yelled at me (with something along the lines of "YOU F***ING IDIOT!") and I turned right around and demanded a refund.

I could sooner justify $100 for Apex Armour Prime as opposed to $90 for Starscream. Only $10 (US$5) difference yet you get so much more with Apex Prime. I still think Apex Prime is overpriced by $20 (especially when I can still buy the Japanese version for $80 at import stores), but yeah... it's less of a rip off.

I'm not sure how well Apex Prime will sell here in Sydney considering its imported competition. But I suppose it might sell better in other cities and states and the remaining stock might be taken up after all the God Jinrai toys are sold... whenever that'll be. God Jinrai is a shelf warmer.
