Hmmmm - in this instance I would say that it is unethical (let's not beat around the bush) to dummy bid on his auctions.

If he was selling something you knew he didn't own, or was grossly misrepresenting something, that would be very different. But scalping, while morally questionable, is not so sinful that I consider that dummy bidding on his auctions is an ethical solution.

Better to just confront the guy, and let him know how uncool you think it is to behave this way, and that you are going to campaign that no-one bids on his auctions for this reason. Otherwise, go to one of the Star Wars newsgroups, and tell your story there - far more ethical, and probably more effective in the long run. People will either agree with you, and boycott him, or disagree, in which case your lone voice of dissent will do little good anyway.
