I seem to remember(meaning I'm not 100% certain, but close) Ben Yee at bwtf.com making a post noting Sky Garry's appearance in the Wreckers comic at BotCon. From what I recall, it basically came down to them needing a heavily-armed ship that could carry a bunch of Autobots, and Sky Garry, with his little drop-trailer thingy, fit the bill.

Speaking of those trailers, anyone know where I could find a spare one. It'd help out my Sky Garry(bootleg, but it's all I've got ;_;) alot.
