I would assume that you are the curator of this very fine page based on the e-mail address. If so, I would "think twice" before allowing "user video uploads". The thought is fantastic, BUT, look first at the sites' abilities.. Example:
To handle constant up-loads and downloads of "bandwidth hogging" video, your server(s) would need a t-3 or "backbone" connect to handle the sheer volume of "streaming video", not to mention the vast hard-drive space to house the user's uploaded videos. What about the users like me that connect with a t-3? High speed users could easly overwhelm "modem users" with files that are WAY too large to download in a timely manner. The latest stats show that most internet users are connected via modem. That is the "target group" that I would address, adjusting the site for "loading speed", based on "modem bandwidth". Think about it. In a typical internet scenario, the modem user hits a page and waits for it to load. If the page loads fast, chances are that the user will stay there for a while and look around AND click on an interesting "ad banner".. We both know what that means.. $$$$
I have been roaming around the net since the "good 'ol days" of "telex" on win3.11 and other crude programs. ;-)
From what I have seen, watching people over the years, The smart thing to do these days is to satisfy the "gimme, gimme, NOW" generation with quick, fast utilities..
Personally, I'd revive the "user paging system" before adding the "video thing". It's perfect for modem users, is a "low banwidth utility" because it's "text based", and you have to admit that people in general just LOVE to BS with each other, don't they? The best example of this is probably good 'ol Yahoo of all things.. Their secret? It's simple, fast, it works, and it offers a TON of info in a small browser window, AND is the "BS capitol" of the entire net.. (food for thought)
Best of luck, love the site, love the cars and the people!
Keep up the VERY fine work!
