According to my information Niels Haagenson's wife was Berte Olsdtr, b.1818. They were married 24 May 1847, and went to the States in 1871. You say his wife was Berit Eriksdtr (the same as his mother), could there be a mixup somewhere or was he married twice ? Berte Olsdtr was the first of 9 children and only two of them (twins) died before they were one year old. 5 married and raised children so if my assumptions are correct you probably have lots of relatives in Rendalen and surrounding districts ! Also Niels's sister Brynhild got married, but I haven't checked this in detail.
