Subject: Etterlyser Andrew Leland, Hamar

I am looking for relatives and information regarding my ancestors from Hamer.
My grandfather was Andrew Norial Leland b.4May1869 in Glascow, Scotland. I
was told that his father, Andrew Leland died when my grandfather was very
young and that his Norwegian mother, Nellie took the family back to Norway.

I did not know where to look for the family in Norway until my cousin found
some old postcards signed by Olaf Leland. I was able to find Olaf's
Naturalization records which were witnessed by my grandfather, Andrew Leland.
Olaf was b.28Jan1873 in Hamer, Norway according to his citizenship papers. We
also found some cards signed by C. Peterson.

We suspect that Nellie may have remarried after she returned to Norway. My
grandfather, Andrew's death certificate lists his mother, Nellie's last name
as Peterson which is crossed out and Nelsen is written in. Maybe Nelsen is
her maiden name? Or it could be the other way around.

My grandfather, Andrew died in Detroit in 1936. We have not found any record
of my Uncle, Olaf after about 1920. His last address was Saginaw, MI. Andrew
was a boat Captain and Olaf was also a seaman mostly on the Great Lakes. I
suspect they both worked their way to the States as ship crewmen.

Any information regarding my family tree would be greatly appreciated. My
father was also Norwegian from Sandefjord. He died in Detroit, Michigan when
I was only 2 years old. So, I am very interested in finding my roots.
