I went to a workshop on THRASS a few years ago and was equally impressed by the logical and clear presentation of the sounds of English. However, since then I have spoken with a few teachers from different schools and have found that they don't use this programme and instead have stored it in the back of a cupboard somewhere. I wonder why it's not used? Is the traditional alphabet approach too entrenched in our society - TV, books, songs, etc. that it's too difficult to adopt by schools? I'd love to hear from anyone who has tried to implement and failed / succeeded.
