What you need to understand is that dyslexic’s have a very hard time with the written word. For writing you will find that dyslexic student’s generally have three default writing strategies, coping, visualization, and narrative. To this end, to help your daughter I would suggest the following:
For visualization have her draw five bananas, etc.
For narrative, turn the word problem into a story after you help her draw it out.
She might like one of these strategies, or both. Please let me know so we can discuss the next step.
