The teacher and the child can complete an activity which is the completion of the tables facts he has now learned. For example, it can have six times table( 10x6 =, 5x6=, 0x6, etc). Explain to the child that all of the separate facts are repeated so that he can practice remembering them. A child will know a lot of the answers from doing this activity. However, the teacher should be sure to come in quickly with the answer, or a clue, if the child hesitates for more than a second or two. A helpful clue can be to remind the child of the tables fact which comes before the one they cannot remember. For example, if he gets stuck on 6x6=, he will probably remember it, or be able to count on, from 5x6=30, an easier fact to remember.
The child should not be timed on how long it takes to complete the sheet until he has the chance to do the sheet three or four times, and is getting quite good at it. He will then be ready to time himself, either with a watch or with the help of his parent. Once a child starts completing the sheet and timing how long it takes, he can try to improve his timing. Praise is always important when using worksheets like this with a child. If there are any error, get the child to erase and correct then working in pencil will allow this so that the child can write 40/40 at the end.
