Sounds like we have a similar situation. My post is below yours. The schools can only test for a learning disability and not dyslexia. If she doesn't qualify to have a learning disability then there really isn't anything they can do. My son is in Title 1 reading which is a government funded program to help students falling behind but not "labeled" with a disability. It's a grant that not all schools qualify for. Also at our schools they will only test your child by parent request. I have made an appointment to have my son tested. You should ask your doctor for a referral to a clinic that specializes in dyslexia. Plus that way insurance is most likely willing to help with the bill as they consider it to be a mental illness type problem. Also upon making my appointment I wished I had done it sooner as the soonest appointment isn't until January 30th! It's so sad to watch our kids go through this and not no how to help them. I probably wasn't as much help as you needed but hopefully others who have been through this can offer us some input! Best wishes and tell your daughter she's not alone in how she's feeling. It will get better:)
