Hopelessness, irrational thoughts, closing yourself off, not caring about yourself...all very self destructive and are signs of depression.

You are also at a very critical time in your life, when your body and mind are changing. This means a lot of chemical and hormonal changes in your body. These changes could be triggering the depression you are experiencing.

If you can't talk to your parents, please make an appointment to see your doctor. He/She may be able to help.

Teen years are supposed to be the time of your life, but I remember how hard everything was. From peer pressure, to the need to do well in school, to having the rules of home and classroom, and some how, still trying to develope your own identity. These are all pressures that they are just now discovering in teenagers. Your guidance counsellors at school, should also be there to help you talk things through.

I have two neices who are 16 and 14, going through these changes. I have a 13 year old stepdaughter, that is just starting.

Please come back here when you need to. This is a wonderful place to let all your feelings out and to feel safe, with the feelings you are having. I have been living with depression for 20 years now.

Take care of you.

Rhonda K
