I have a thought about it.
Maybe the sense of peace and desire to live life to the max is about you experiencing That for him he is now at peace for good and in that sense you are happy for him, however you have now felt that for yourself peace exists within yourself and all you have to do is live it now in this lifetime and it gives you energy to feel this and courage to live to the maximum of your capability. You should not feel guilty about this. Consider it a last gift given to you by your friend.
