Hi Eric.....I'm sorry you are feeling so lousy....It is always a good idea for anyone who is taking psychotropic drugs to contact their doctor when given an antibiotic. I don't know why this happens, but antibiotics for some reason nullify the effects of antidepressants. I found out that erythromycin will make lithium ineffective. Augmentin in high doses will make Lamictal and effexor ineffective.

Lithium will also react with NSAIDS, including motrin.

It is always best to contact your pdoc when another doc gives you medication. A lot of doctors don't know all the interactions...pdocs know best. Sometimes pharmacists won't catch it either....
