A friend of mine chose radiation therapy over surgery for prostate cancer. The worst parts for him were going in for therapy every day (a hassle and time consuming), and a feeling of exhaustion. He also had what was like a sunburn. Fortunately, the side effects of the radiation went away pretty quickly after the treatment was complete, and he has had great PSA results for the past several years and has every reason to believe he has a long life ahead of him.
