Subject: Matt's first day at school

He went to school yesterday. He was nervous but handled it a lot better than I expected. I told him there would be other new students so he wouldn't be the only one. He met one guy who moved up from Georgia and is in 4 of his classes, and another one from MA. Matt has quite a course-load this year. He's taking 3 high school credit classes. Algebra I, English I and German. Besides that he has History, Science, and PE this semester. He's probably going to have quite a bit of homework. I told him he didn't have to take those advanced classes if he feels that it's too much, but he wants to stay in them. He's so proud of himself for qualifying for them because of his grades and his end of grade tests. Anyway, next year he'll start high school with 3 credits behind him. In the 11th grade he can go to Aiken Technical College for part of the day and take college classes. It will be a lot of work, but will pay off in the long run if that's what he wants to do. Luckily, Scott is great at math and science. Scott loves both of those subjects and has an associates degree in Science. He wouldn't have to have much more college to have a 4 year degree. So Matt has plenty of help on Math. English was always my strongest subject. Between the two of us, I think we'll be able to help him out, but not with German. He's on his own there.
