Molly -- Thanks for replying. But those are not exactly the versions I know.

Marcello -- Sorry for the really late reply. I've been quite busy.

The story I know has been related to me by Suzanne, the website's co-president. She tells it best but I'll try.

When JAG started out, Andrea Parker portrayed Harm's partner, Kate Pike. However, the NBC honchos believed that Parker and Elliott did not have enough chemistry so they asked Bellisario and company to change Harm's leading lady pronto. NBC told him to put in another actress of their choice. Enter Meg and Tracey Needham. (Meg's definitely the better partner and Tracey's the best among all three leading ladies. And she has the most chemistry with DJE.) Bellisario, although he had nice words for Tracey has been very vocal about his displeasure with NBC (and in effect, with the innocent Ms. Needham).

At the end of the first season, according to NBC, the show wasn't good enough ratings-wise, so they decided to dump the show. When CBS decided to pick up the show, Bellisario was guaranteed that he could have his way. So out went Tracey and in went Catherine Bell.

Although both Bellisario's and Tracey's camps claim that the separation was amicable, it's quite obvious that the people at Bellisarius (Bellisario's production outfit) were give strict orders to treat the first season as if it never happened, thereby completely eradicating Meg (and the chance for her return in JAG). Also, several Bellisarius insiders reportedly knew of Bellisario referring to Tracey as "that blonde bimbo" (or something to that effect). Mean, isn't he?

So, even if the opportunity presented itself, I don't think Tracey will be keen on guest-starring in JAG, knowing how Bellisario never really approved of her. I hope she could get to reunite with DJE onscreen, but that might take place in another show (say, The Division?).
