Well, I have been talking with Atlanticus for some time about how unhappy I was with the game, and how close I was to quitting.

It really dawned on me, that I needed to quit, when I began being unpleasant to ppl here the last times I have been on.

And that is what triggered my quitting now after the failed Event - it was not that ppl didn't show up, but that I was unpleasant again. Purely out of frustration of such a bad game.

I would have quit very soon in any case, that is for sure.

Anyway, we will find something else to play. And next time I will not play a leveling game of any kind. Neither will I play an item-heavy game.
If that means that there is only FPS'es left, then so be it. I wouldn't mind playing something like Planetside again, or maybe even a pure FPS like BF2.
