She watches the pair spitefully, tossing her finely sculpted head. The arrogant vanity of the mare disgusts her, as does the flirty attitude. Never would she be confined by the bonds of another's wishes! Never would she be placid and willing, allowing a stallion to dote upon her! Her rebellious spirit and defiance, as well as her suspicion and distrust, means she is doomed to never be loved as others are, never to know the carefree joy and trust of affection. Even if she did catch a stallion's fancy, he would more than likely grow frustrated at her stubborn nature and leave her to find a more obediant mare. She loves her filly and only her filly completely, for Banat has known Estrella all her daughter's life, and Banat is certain that Estrella's mind is free of devious secrets and lies. Estrella grew up under a fierce devotion and protection from her dam, and if one was patient enough to love Banat, she would reward them with the same loyalty. I do not seek one to slather me with compliments and follow my every whim, the mare thinks with revoltion, and turns away from Kryptonite and the other mare. Yet anyone watching her might have seen a flash of jealous pain in Banat's dark eyes that was quickly hidden under her usual cold glare of indifference.
