I was just surprised that Meadows played Maddux so closely, actually gave up fewer hits. Oh well, the pen ate it last night. John Burkett may not be in too much trouble tonight, especially with Rodrigo Lopez getting his first major league start for the Pads (which may be a good thing, since no one has ever seen him pitch) and if Burkett doesn't cut it, they'll bring in Bruce Chen early like Burkett's last outing. Right now, the Braves are the better team easily, and the best in the NL. Unfortunately for the Padres, having one of the highest rated minor league pitching systems, with 3 projected #1 starters, doesn't mean a damn thing this year. Woody Williams and Matt Clement absolutely shut down the Braves in September, but aren't pitching this series. Oh well, maybe next time. I'm really happy for Galarraga, wish he'd had the game winning hit instead of Bobby Bonilla, lol.. it would be easier to swallow. The only good thing for Padres fans as it pertains to this series, is that it sure looks like we got the better end of the Klesko, Boone/Veras, Sanders trade. We also got minor leaguer Jason Shiell in that trade, and he's 3-1 with an ERA around 2.
Good luck Braves fans! not like ya need it.
