She spies the girl who leaps out. Hmm, it looks like a gypsy wagon; maybe that girl is a gypsy, just like Annie. She thought to herself, the image of Annie, Chinese owner of the bakery, pops in her mind. She grins with mischief, an ordinary thing for a child of nine to do. She climbs to the driver seat and takes the reins. She never knew how to maneuver the wagon, but the minute she was on, she was determined to know how. She heaves a breath of excitement and jerks the reins.
