The following was found over at UO Stratics, posted under General News by Joshua Rowan (Project Manager, UO Stratics):
More information to share with all of you regarding the Relocation.

First, our sources have confirmed for us that UO Live, UXO Development, Online Customer Support, Network Operation, and Marketing out of the Austin, Texas location will all be moved to the EA Online Publishing site in Redwood City, California. This should all take place within the next 60 days, by the the end of April 2004.

We are also told that the reason for the move is mostly based on EA's ability to now take advantage of all their Online resources being located under one roof (as you may have heard, Maxis will also be relocated to Redwood City, and the developers of Earth & Beyond are already there). This in turn should allow the various teams to communicate better with each other, and in theory improve the quality of ideas and creativity in all projects involved.

Of note is that it is being stressed that Electronic Arts has every intention of continuing to invest in the Ultima Online Franchise, which by default should also include Ultima X: Odyssey, as well as critical support teams to the franchise.

We are expecting much more information to come out over the coming days, and most likely into next week. Especially as it relates to specific Dev Team Members and whether or not they will be continuing on with the projects. As we find out more details, we will let you know.
