Well, i thought i should show my face in here as it was me who spoke to Chopper and i have also been posting here in the past months.
I am connected with this idea a lot more than i was when i first spoke to Chopper, and its for this reason i have decided to speak.
I, as Rydel have been posting here for awhile now, trying to get the feel of where DoD was going and offering to assist the guild in any way i could, i have always had a soft spot for DoD, mostly because of Ka. *pokes* Ka Null was one of the first in the TA to show me what it really was to be a RP on Oceania, and was always there for tutorage when i required it.
Seeing DoD these last months has been sad for me, why? because i know there are people out there that would love DoD, they would love what the guild could offer them and would also love to be in a community as such. This was why during the time a few months ago, when i thought i revival was imminent, i put up my hand to offer my services wherever it could be used.
Sadly, this never came about, and since then i have been looking at other possibilities to if not revive the guild, to keep what was left of its people and heritage and let it survive to fight another day. When i made the offer to Chopper, it was mostly talk, i wanted to gauge the interest of DoD and see just how many of you were hiding out there. Since i made that proposal however, a lot has happened and VKR has changed.
Duke Gustav has stepped down as the GM of VKR, and I, Alerion have taken on the role in his stead.
Now, instead of coming to you as Rydel, someone that a few of you know and others have heard about, to give aid where i can. I come as Alerion, Duke and GM of VKR.
The idea i presented to Chopper was that of Darkstone becoming a Barony of VKR. DoD would add to VKR's numbers and also give VKR another RP avenue to the outside world, on the other hand, DoD would then have access to an active stone, a larger member base and it too would also gain another RP avenue to interact with other guilds.
Now, i have kept abreast of all the posts placed here and would like to discuss a few of the points.
After reading the replies, it seems to me as if the only problem that faces this is the fact of perma-war. I myself know where you people are coming from, i myself have a tamer bard and sometimes struggle as a member of a warred guild. With this said, there is always a way around this.
There are several options that present themselves to me.
First Option:
The VKT stone. This stone could be used. I am the GM of this stone and your very own Asmodean has access to my account and can access this stone.
Second Option: (My Preferred Option)
The VKR stone. Yes, Perma-war is an issue for some of your chars, but I'm sure not all... After all, being a larger guild (if combined), there is a lot more chance you would either be hunting with someone from your guild or be able to ICQ someone for a quick rescue.
I do realise however, that sometimes this isn't the case, but as both myself and Asmodean have access to the VKR stone, I'm fairly confident that should you require to leave your guild and really have no other choice, you could do so and be re-guilded later.
Now, with that said, i also believe with the coming of the Samurai Expansion, guilds will change, and thus other options may present themselves, but for now, these are the only two options.
I myself would love DoD to join the fold of VKR. I believe DoD would bring something to VKR that cannot be told in simple guild numbers, but instead in a combined history and combined resources.
As for who would lead the DoD Barony. I leave that choice up to you. If you decide to join VKR, and can't decide, then I'm sure Asmodean would be happy to take over on a temporary basis until such time as a more permanent Baron could be chosen. He is already part of the VKR Council, so the transition would be easy.
I ask anyone who is interested and would like more information or would just like to chat, or even if they just wanted to join VKR in a hunt somewhere, to contact either Myself on ICQ #89231572 or Asmodean on ICQ #290600863. I would also appreciate if anyone reading this post would send a Mass ICQ to all DoD members on their list, I'm sure some have more contacts than others. This way we can get more DoD helping to make this decision.
Oh, and just to note. There is a VKR event on Tonight. If anyone wants to come, please, feel free to ICQ either of us.
