Lockie – We will Remember you Forever.

I stare out my window, the world has not stopped. All is the same, but it is not.
A part of my family and so many others’s, has been taken from us.

I find it so hard to login to my other world, so many things race through my mind.
The place that was always such an escape from the worries of the real world, no longer calls me as it did. The safety that UO was, has been shaken to its knees.

Real world events have taken control of my feelings and thoughts to the exclusion of all else.

All those of us that knew Lockie in UO, are feeling the same sense of loss and despair.

It is hard for people that have never played Ultima, to understand what it is like to feel as we do. I am very fortunate in that, my wife and I both play, and can share our grief in a physical way and talk about our memories of Lockie without the need to type.

I had never met Lockie in the physical sense, nor did I know him as anything other than his UO persona. But this does not mean that I did not know him. In our little pixel world we all get to know each other better than those we know in the real world in many ways.
Bonds are formed, friendships cemented by their presence in our lounge rooms every day. We know each other in many ways but also not at all. If we passed in the street we would never know.

Our world is not concerned with what the person looks like or sounds like but by their deeds and actions, by the way they react and behave, by the way they treat us.

It is hard to describe the way I feel, to know how to deal with this. But the loss is no less real because we had never met in person.

Lockie was, a very kind, generous, selfless individual.
Someone who displayed all the wonderful human characteristics that so many people do not have, or dare to show.

He had so much drive, spark, enthusiasm and energy for things it puts me to shame.

He was the best friend of so many people and treated all with the same kindness and generosity. He was a shinning beacon in a world darkened by the selfishness and arrogance of so many.

To his Wife, family and work mates, we send our prayers and thoughts of a wonderful and rare individual, we share your pain our hearts go out to you and hope that you can draw some strength from the love and happiness Lockie brought to all our lives.

He touched our hearts, and left so soon.

I am so glad that I got to know him a little he was “One in a million”.

Until we meet again, your memory will live on.
