Looking up from the place on the floor he seemd to be studying, he set a frown upon the bard. "Gone missing you say ? How, by the hairy black arse of the lord of the abyss, can she be missing ?"
A slight shuffle of his feet is the only evidence of the utter state of anxiousness the old man is in. He had dreaded comming to tell him the news of Synergy's dissappearance, but someone had too.
"Is there something foul afoot here, Ruthian ? So many are packing up and going or just simply just going 'missing'." Astro, Vain, Harry, Inferno, Able, Dredd and now Synergy ?".
The old bard continued to be silent, knowing offering any words would be useless while his lord remained in this state.
Ka Null began pacing, walking by a basket sitting in a corner and lashing out at it in a rage. Items spilled out everywhere, including a book which fell open at a page dog eared in its corners. The enraged warrior stopped still in his tourment and looked at the book.
'Journal by Sorrin Phyreblaid'
Picking up the book he read the words written on the page it fell open at.
"Building has begun, it is dark and cold here in the shadows of these monsterous keeps. Lord know why Ka wanted it built here, at least the bay offers some saving grace. Teal is working the builders hard next door on the tower, all should be finished soon. One must wonder why Ka wanted a damm tavern built out here in the wilds. 'Build them to stand forever' he said. Ye gods ! Surely nothing will last forever out here in this alley of dark stoned shadows .. "
Closing the book, he shut his eyes. When he opened them again there was a tear in each corner. Sitting at his table he motioned a reluctant Ruthian to sit down also.
"It seems our brother, Sorrin, was wiser than we gave him credit for." he finally said as he tossed the journal to Ruthian. After a quick scan of the dogeared page, Ruthian looked up at his lord and friend. "Mayhaps." was all he said.
"Send messengers out too all of Darkstone. Have them ask the Lords and Ladies, Tradesmen and Villagers what it is they wish do to. I shall stay put here in the manor, but if need be I can find new homes for those who wish to move on. Without the rock of Darkstone," he spoke of Synergy Blaze, "to keep it standing, it shall surely crumble."
"You wish me to ask of the Defenders if they are to stay with you, M'Lord ?" Ruthian questioned.
"Aye, old friend, I do. No grudges will be held to those who wish to make their home elsewhere and pledge their fealty to another if that is what they wish. I have not the energy to lead again. I am tired, friend. Now go do as I wish .. I need time alone."
Bowing as he left, Ruthian made off to do the nessasary preparations.
