Subject: Are these tickets a rip-off?

In response to anyone who believes that U2 couldn't work a ramped center-stage configuration to the hilt, I would only respond by saying that they can't have been at many U2 shows in their lifetime. U2 can get an entire stadium (50,000 fans+) jumping like no band I've ever seen. I've never been disappointed with a U2 show, not even sitting practically behind the stage on the Zoo Tour when alot of the action was taking place on the huge displays that I couldn't quite see. Bono and the boys had EVERYONE on their feet. The electricity of their performance totally eclipsed any high from beer or weed (both of which I must admit I had partaken in). By the end of the show I felt I could run a marathon.
I remember going back the next night to Giants Stadium hoping all or nothing to scalp floor seats, failing, then hanging out in the parking lot with alot of other jilted fans listening to a mock set-list playing on 92.3 KROCK and recollecting about tours past. Someone invevitably brought up the time that Bono invited that guy up on stage during the Joshua Tree show at the Continental Arena in New Jersey (at that time still known as the Brendon Byrne arena) by asking if anyone out there "knew how to play an A-chord?" Helping this guy up on stage, Mr. Vox handed him his guitar and the worlds luckiest fan (who many claim to have known or have been) proceeded to tear up the place with his killer riff, you could tell by Bono's nod to the Edge that they were impressed. Or maybe they were just being nice, does it really matter? "U2 kick ass", we all agreed, sipping on our beers and turning up the radios.
Somewhere towards the end of the show we all swore we heard a mounting "whoah,whoah-oh,whoah... whoah, whoah-oh whoah..." being belted out into the balmy august night by what sounded like an army of angels. They were U2 fans. It was coming from the open bowl of the stadium. At that moment I realized that I would sit ANYWHERE to see this band. It is something quite special and unique to be able to project complete harmony and common choruses to a huge mass of people, some of which were probably only casual fans there only because of the general availability of seats at such a venue.
U2 songs, I'm convinced, are more than rock and roll, they are anthems. You can't help but chant along with 50,000 fellow human beings sharing in the celebration with this band. Everyone is important when the choruses are sung. Bono knows this.
I look forward to this tour because I can only begin to imagine what its going to be like in the midst of the pure high- voltage level thats going to be created in the significantly more intimate setting of an arena populated by the most cosmically tuned in fans out there.
Celebrate, people, that you are going to be a part of this. And those of you who haven't gotten tickets because you're afraid of being ripped off, get your hands on whatever seats you can, now. We want you there, U2 wants you there. Besides, with every aspect of our lives in turn of the millenium America becoming an increasingly corporate-sponsored hyped-up burned-out rip-off, this is one "overpriced " event that might just be a bargain in the end. You may just be investing in your soul, and cashing in on some pure joy.
See you all there, long live the Interference.
