Subject: New Year's Day

I am writing an essay for my History of Rock N Roll class on the song "New Year's Day" by U2. (I don't believe I actually get credit for this class). I love U2's music, but I am not nearly the fan that most of you are who sign this bulletin board. I was wondering if any of you have any insights into the making of this song, the writing of it, or any unusual incidents surrounding it's writing/recording/performance. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Please email your responses to dgcarrie@aol.com Thanks so much!
