The last few words of the girl are drowned out by the flash of pain and thought from Briar that suddenly envelopes the man's mind. He turns away quickly, his back to the girl, pretending to look at something out the window, while shoving his hands inside his cloak. He tightens them into fists and forces them to stay at his side, though they longed to shoot up and clutch at his head to make the sudden pain subside. He bites his tongue to keep from speaking or shouting. It would've been fine if he'd expected the sudden pain, then he would have been able to handle it perfectly. But he hadn't, and it had caught him off guard. His first thought was somewhere along the lines of "What was that all about? That little..." But he shakes his head. He knew nothing of Telepathy, or how it worked. For all he knew it was always this painful, but the thing that bothered him the most was how to send a message with the spider. He had been careful to draw his hand off the counter slowly, to keep the spider from losing it's seat. It now clung to his hand. How was he to send a message with it? He couldn't communicate with spiders, could he? Should he try? He turns around back to face the girl and says "Huh, what was that you said? I didn't hear all of it".

OOC: Well, that was interesting. Umm, so how DOES he send a message with the spider? Should he try speaking to it telepathically...and if he can do that, why can't he just send the message right back to Briar? lol, just wondering.
