You must claim one mare at least, she is your alpha, she chooses which land to live in, then you claim other mares. Your alpha dicides where you live and how long you live there. Does that help?

The fisrt mare a stallion claims is not neccisarily his alpha. Mares decide among themselves who will be the alpha.
