Subject: Mrs.Dempster -chpt 1 summary

I'm reading this book for the first time and I have only read the first chapter. In any case, here are a few points that may help future readers:

Dunstable Ramsay (AKA - dunstable,dunny,the cork...) is the narrator of the book.
The term "Fifth Business" refers to a person who is neither heroine/hero or villan but who affects the life of another person. An example of this is Paul Dempster and Dunstan Ramsay. Dunstan play the role of the Fifth Biz because he teaches young Paul card trick adn Paul goes on to become a famous magician.
Dunstan's bf is Percy Staunton, who is the boy who causes a pregnant Mrs. Dempster to 'go simple'. The snowball causes Mrs. Mary Dempster to have a concussion and she gets brain damage rendering her "less intelligent" (she does some crazy shite because of it too)
Dunny becomes good friends with Mrs. Dempster since his mother asks him to become the unoffical watch dog of the Dempster family(especially the baby Paul)
Dunny looks at mrs.Dempster as a mother type.
Mrs. Dempster is married to a parson-a Presbyterian church figure but It's not my final answer-pretty sure though. He is VERY religous and unfortunately, he has to do house chores b/c his wife no longer can. He is madly in love with her. He also "fires" dunny and forbids him to visit his young son and wife due to the fact that dunny teaches 3 year old paul card tricks which are 'the devil's picturebook'.
The best part of the whole chapter is when Mrs. D goes missing and the whole town goes out on a search mission. Dunny is the first to find her in the gravel pits (literally)having sex with a tramp (hobos from off the trains-yes they are MaLe. That shows ya how 'simple' she really was!
Other events of the chapter-
Willie Ramsay,older brother of dunny becomes sick. His kidneys are filled with fluids, he needs to be plunged in water like 4x a day, he nearly dies but doesn't. He get the water extracted once and for all by they doctor and recovers but then goes off and enlists and dies overseas.
Dunstan get a girlfriend-leola cruikshanks and he also enlists.
