I can think of at least two reasons why God cannot logically be a "thinking" being.

1) If God is omniscient then thought is unneccessary. If all things are known, then the outcome of the thought process is already known before the thought process even occurs. Thus, thought would be a totally unncessary activity.

2) If God is out side of time, than all things within time, including thought, would be percieved as if simultaneous. (I think Aquinas said something about God experiencing existence in a single instant.) If God stands outside of time, thinking would, again, be an unnecessary activity.
