Reminds me of the guy in Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy who had decided that the world was insane based on the fact that there had to be instructions on a pack of toothpicks.

But that's not what I meant....at least a bag of airline peanuts is SUPPOSED to contain nuts. Chocolate chip cookie dough breakfast bars aren't, and usually don't.

Except for mine this Tuesday, for no particular reason but that manufacturers would rather save money covering their ass with a disclaimer than give allergy sufferers any real way to tell whether something can be harmful or not.

In fact a lot of things you wouldn't reasonably expect to contain nuts actually do, sometimes in more than traces. Regular M&Ms. Some brands of caramel. Cheap Easter candy. Rice pilaf in gourmet restaurants. etc. I'm just lucky I'm not one of the people for whom the fact that these things are not correctly, consistently labeled could be suddenly and irretrievably fatal.

There I go ranting again. Sometimes you feel like a nut...
