I did an entire paper in a conversation format once.

("blah blah defending viewpoint one."
"defending viewpoint two blah blah blah." ect.)

I believe my teacher said something along the lines of "This is too creative a format for essays. Do something a little more traditional."

And, of course, traditional means boring.
