Subject: Mariah came in, two dobermans at her heels, and a black and white cat perched on her shoulders...

Mariah went to the farthest stall at the barn, and looked in. Inside was her beautiful dappled grey arabian. The stallion looked over at her with warm soft eyes. She held out her hand, and the cat, Majik, made her way down it and into the stallion's stall.

The stallion, October Snowstorm nosed Mariah's hand gently. Mariah let tears escape her soft misted green eyes. October nuzzled her, and rested his head on her shoulder. Majik meowed and batted at Dreaful Sorry, the small female doberman, from where she sat on October's stall door.

Raven, the largest, dusty black doberman, looked up at Mariah with sad eyes. He pawed at her jeans softly, and whimpered deep in his throat. Dreadful laid down at Mariah's feet, whining softly.

Mike pulled in the barn driveway, his brother Chester with him. Mike stopped the car, and ran inside the barn. Chester followed him, at a slow pace. Mike stopped, a good 30 feet from Mariah. He bit his lip, and muttered something to Chester. Chester gave a sigh, and Mike shoved him out from the corner.

Chester came over to Mariah, and tapped her lightly on the shoulder. She turned around sharply, and exhaled in relief that it was just Chester. Chester looked at his feet, and said, "Mariah, I got some pretty shitty news."

Mariah wailed. "I do too! Brandon snuck into Chase's house a little while ago, and...and -" she couldn't finish. She flung herself into her brothers arms. Chester asked her, "And what? What happened?"

Mariah clutched his shirt, and sobbed, "I'm pregnant! I can't afford a baby! I'm only 17! I don't have a job! I don't know how I'm going to keep it! What do I do?" she wailed.

Chester rubbed her back, and shot an angry look at Mike. "Hey, hey," he said, "It'll be okay. I'll help you out, I promise. Don't worry. This will be fun for you! I get to be an uncle! Everything will be just fine...I promise."
