Subject: QUESTION ABOUT HEPATITIS C

I JUST FOUND OUT THAT I TO HAVE HEPATITIS C . AND THE DOCTOR WANTS TO PUT ME ON THE PEGINTRON, THE DOCTOR SAYS THAT THERE ARE A ABOUT A 40% CHANCE THAT SOME PEOPLE CAN EVEN GET RID OF THE HEPATITIS C . BUT I AM ON THE WAITING LIST DOES ANY ONE KNOW HOW LONG IT TAKES TO GET ON TO THE PEGINTRON ? BUT, I AM NOT GOING TO GIVE UP ON MY SELF, WE CAN ALL FIGHT THIS HEPATITIS C, LETS JUST ALL STAND UP AND TRY TO FIND A CURE FOR THIS DISAES. WE CAN WIN, JUST DO NOT GET DOWN, WE ARE ALL GOING TO STAY HAPPY, GO FOR A WALK, THINK OF SOME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SMILE.

Have you had a biopsy? You should have one before you begin treatment. You may not need treatment yet.

I'm not sure how long the waiting list is right now.

about 6 weeks now and still waiting I am told it could take up to two months before the tx is avalbile also I agree with Cat a biopsy is a must although I ve not had mine yet I wouldnt atart treatment with out it
I am guessing you have your genotype????

CAT IS RIGHT ABOUT THE BIOPSY BEFORE TREATMENT, IT GIVES THEM A PICTURE OF JUST HOW MUCH THEY ARE DEALING WITH BEFORE STARTING. ALSO FOR YOUR OWN PIECE OF MIND IT WILL HELP TO KNOW JUST WHAT THE DISEASE/VIRUS IS DOING TO YOUR LIVER.
GOOD LUCK ON TREATMENT, I HOPE YOU ARE A LUCKY ONE AND RESPOND, AND WITH LITTLE OR NO SIDE EFFECTS. THERE ARE MANY HERE ON TREATMENT THAT CAN LEND YOU SUPPORT, AND SOME OF US NOT ABLE TO TAKE THE TREATMENT THAT WILL BE HERE FOR YOU TOO. I TOOK IT TWICE AND WAS A NON RESPONDER, THEY WILL NOT LET ME TAKE ANY INTERFERON NOW, I HAVE ADVERSE REACTIONS TO IT, SO IT WAS MORE HARM THAN GOOD FOR ME, I AM THE RARE EXCEPTION TO THE RULE, WHEN IT COMES TO MEDS AND TREATMENT, I REACT TO MOST EVERYTHING, THAT DON'T KEEP ME DOWN THOUGH, I GET BY WITH GODS GRACE AND THE SUPPORT AND LOVE HERE .

Welcome to Voices. The others have given you very good advice. And actually the percentage of people clearing the virus is even better than 40% at this point, depending on your genotype of the virus. If you are a non-one genotype your chances are closer to 78%. Most of us are 1's though.

I think the biopsy is necessary also. If you have little liver damage you may want to wait until better treatments come along. HCV is a very slow moving disease.
