Subject: Hey y'all!!! I just received some copies of the newest May/June issue of Hepatitis magazine. (so new the articles aren't on their website yet!)... WE NEED TO STITCH SOME SQUARES!!
There's a HUGE article (with many people pictures) about a Hepatitis C quilt they're making. There's a pic of Peppermint Patti (of JunkDrawer fame) whose website helped oodles of us find the info & support we need -- she originally proposed the idea to her email network, and this gal in San Diego took off with it.
There are 3 quilts now -- the HepC Connection has funded the shipping of the quilts to different Hep Events.
Apparently, the basic squares are: on a 12"x12" red or yellow cotton cloth, trace your hand and apply it in any medium you like (such as permanent market or a cloth of different color). Include name, state, date you think you contracted the disease, and the date you were diagnosed. Write anything else that can give those who view the quilt a deeper understanding of your battle with hepatitis C.
Also -- if you want to make any other kind of square (HepC-related), it is welcome too.
Maybe we should make a Voices quilt?? Teegz sez she's a good stitcher. Whaddyall think??

Great, except I would need to learn how to stitch....will go to WMart and pick up a book...If I can read better that is (LOL)! Otherwise the hand would come out with a middle finger up (more laughs)...

You can just write on it (with a laundry-proof marker or whatever) -- trace your hand, and tell your (lovely, right now I'm sure!-lol) thoughts, or whatever.

I'm sorry susinni!!!! If I offended anyone I really do apologize, I was just saying that I really am not gifted that way but think it is a wonderful idea. My mother told me that if I bought the book at Wal-Mart, she would help me. Now there is a start. Everything I have attempted, craft-wise that is, on tx seems to end up messed up because I can not concentrate....hence my perverted message. Today is reality check time, and speaking of which...are you going to the hepfest? If so and I can make it maybe you could give me some pointers, especially on concentration since vicodin does not work (LOL).
