Subject: New diagnosis

Hi there. I was just diagnosed, oh, about 32 hours ago. If I'm honest with myself, the diagnosis was just a technicality. I had a seroconversion illness about 2 months after exposure. I waited for the dx until I had insurance.
I am genotype 3 with a low (16,500 to 17,000 IU) viral load. From what I've heard from people who have gone through the treatment and from what I've read, I may not decide to treat, even if they decide that I am a candidate. (I have a 15 year psych history of depression and suicide attempts.) I was exposed in June of 2005. In July and August of 2005 I had negative HIV tests. Now they are telling me that they may not have been accurate and I have to get tested again on Monday.
I work in the healthcare field, but I didn't get exposed at work. I'm just frustrated.
I don't know any of my other lab values. I just keep getting this mental picture of these little gremlins surfing through my bloodstream and snacking on my liver. How did any of you deal with this when you were first diagnosed? Feel free to email me at pierce_this@sbcglobal.net
Cathleen
