Subject: Ok here is the deal best I can remember.

this whole thing would have been easier if my doc would
have been from this country, and I could have understood him.
This ruptured disc has scared my spinel cord,He's givin me a 20% chance of sergury working to fix it.he said the only thing he could do is take some of the presure off for now.
But even doing that could cause me to end up on a resperatore and in a wheel chair. And without sergury he don't know how long I will be ok I know I have to wear one
of those good looking collar things. He also told me that this is what has caused me to not have any balance.
Hey everybody I am truely scared shitless here I have never been so scared in all my life about anything. That is why Susie wrote in for me yesterday.I have to go to my PCP
today I don't know if he will have the report from the
nerosergune or not I hope so cause I can understand my Dr.
I will let you all know later if I learn something new.
I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for
all the prayers and well wishes,Please don't stop now I have a feeling I have a long road ahead of me.Oh yeah gees I for got I have Hep-C to silly me.Have a good day all.

I'm so sorry, this sounds to be really frightening. Courage in these times comes from the love of our friends and a higher power. My prayers go out to you and I'll light you a candle tonight.

[> Hi, Clarence -- Poppie, 19:00:12 04/24/02 Wed (adsl.186.154.willamette.net/207.189.186.154)

We've never met, I hang around and post once in a while. Know Susie and Carol. Listen, I know something about disks and pressure and pain and surgery to correct it. Just this last August I had 2 disk removed, a fusion taken from my hip with a couple of titanium plates.

I have to tell you, I don't like the way your doc is talking to you. Maybe you should get another opinion. Narrowing of the spaces and collapse of the disks can infringe on the spinal cord and it can be serious. Before that happens, people usually have pain, then numbness, then weakness and then possible bladder control loss, etc. Not all disk problems cause spinal cord injury. I'm not saying that you don't, how could I?, but your doc sounds very negative. There is alot they can do surgically to open the space

Go to some neurology sites. Read about cervical sponylosis and disk protrusion, etc. and what they do about it.

If the spaces are that narrow, where it is causing damage to your spinal cord and this doctor does not refer you to a neurosurgeon immediately, then he should not be practicing medicine. It's fine to tell you your chances, but not fine to do nothing and talk about a respirator. Geez! There are things that can be done. If you were in Oregon, I'd send you to Dr. Chris.

Anyway, sorry to go off on when I have just introduced myself. Educate yourself. It is your neck and you must be your own best advocate. BTW - this is where that saying "pain in the neck" comes from. Or "pain in the butt", lol.

Comfort to my fellow sufferer. I bemoaned liver problems until my spine started up on me.
