Author: Anubis, Lord of Destruction
Subject: As always, his brother's words were cryptic at first...
In reply to: Diablo, Lord of Terror 's message, "The dark lord sensed somthing elsewhere, hidden..." on 21:24:55 01/01/02 Tue

...Anubis pondered this other realm spoken of, and the threat posed by those within. What had Diablo seen? And how? And what new evil had he loosed with those orbs? The brothers commanded the swarm, true, but each had a multitude of native abilities, some known, others hidden. But this manifestation....Diablo addressed the dark spheres as his 'children'....did he command minions beyond the swarm? Or was the dark matter simply a manifestation of his will, some assemblage of soulless, faceless riders carrying out in nightmares whatever terror was required of them?

"Nightmares....can it be?"

He looked to the prone form of Scaleblade once more, the confusing pieces now aligning in a diabolically logical order. Scaleblade, battered to the point of death and beyond. Scaleblade, who survived more torment than any living being should suffer. Scaleblade, a reputed queen of darkness herself struck down by more force than she would ever employ when toying with a victim. There she lay, trapped, on the verge of death, the force which surrounded her an almost unnecessary precaution. By every ounce of reason, she should not have survived...and yet she did somehow...

"When the body has suffered more than the mind can handle, the mind must then retreat if the body has any chance to heal. This battered shell of a Predacon, as I believe her kind to be called, this is not her...not now. And to escape the torment that surely would have her begging release, she would have to travel further within herself to stave off death. How many times in the deserts of Egypt did my own followers try that path? How often did they find me waiting, glaive at the ready, to pass judgment on their unworthiness?

Perhaps she has found help in this other place, perhaps not. Whatever Diablo has seen, she is the key. My brother has found a window through her torment into this other place, and used it to bridge the realities. A clever play indeed. Though, if she is in fact on a spiritual retreat, could he not have seen something else, something beyond her? He spoke of stopping 'them'...who? Whomever else has pierced the veil between dreams and the waking world, may prove formidable. And if this mechanical animal could serve as a window into one world, could not others glimpse things through her?"

The jackal's dark brow furrowed as he struggled with these thoughts. The destruction of Cybertron was imminent, and that would sate his hunger, his driving need for the primal force he represented in his pantheon. But there was a new wrinkle now, and though Diablo claimed not to worry and advised them to do the same, he had manifested a deadly ability before them. Clearly, he too was as concerned and sought to assuage his partners in darkness.

"Diablo, brother, I would know more....what do these dark 'children' of yours seek? How could any even know of us, know of the poetic destruction at hand on the homeworld of our swarm's long-dead creator? This alliance of ours has carried us far, and we have all grown stronger through the energies the creatures have brought us. Now, on the verge of our most ambitious endeavor yet, you actually admit something could stop us, but admit no details?

I would know more. I am certain Schizzo would as well. We cannot fail at this stage, after all this planning. I demand to know what you have seen, what is out there! If it threatens all of us, we have a right to know. And if your spheres are not equal to the task, perhaps my own glaive could strike down these new offenders..."

Even as the jackal spoke, he was trying to concentrate. Diablo's cerebral abilities were more developed, as Anubis often preferred a hands-on approach with his victims. But the jackal too was powerful, and if Diablo would not share what he had seen, Anubis would look through Scaleblade to that other place for himself....

"Every time I look at you I get a fierce desire to be lonesome."
