George has got great stamina and ability for cross country riding so I decided to take him out to the 2ft and up cross country course.
Although he is huge and will find these xc jumps awfully easy, I haven't ridden him for a while so I will just bring him back to work nicely with patience. Pretty soon I will bring him forwards to the much higher course.

I canter George nicely towards the first fence from the starting line. I had only lightly warmed him up in walk and trot for 5 minutes beforehand, but George is a fit old (I mean young!) chap who's always raring to go!!
I headed him towards the small log pile which he simply 'hopped' over, but I charged him round again and made him jump it with a scope. Second time round was much better.
We jumped various hedges, log piles, brush fences, and many other obstacles for about 1/2 an hour on the course, but it wasn't long before both George and I were out of breath from all the jumping and galloping around so I brought him to a stop and dismounted. I took off his lightweight eventing saddle and took him to his nice cool stable. :o)
