Subject: Fort Sumter - 150th Anniversary

Here is the preliminary infromation for the 150th Ft. Sumter event. This is a very strict impression event. No Kids, No Farb. But this is hot off the press and we are invited to do this with the Iron Greys. More specific information will becomming in the future.

150th Anniversary of the Firing on Ft. Sumter

Location: Ft. Moultrie National Military Park, SC
Dates: April 8 - 12 2011
Registration: $25 (this includes the required belt buckle)
Type of Event: Regimental – Maximum Attendance
Camping Type: Garrison Style (A-Frames ONLY)
Uniform: RD II with black taping, gray trousers, kepi
Notes:
a) This is literally a once in a lifetime event and I do hope that you are making plans to be there.

b) We have been offered to be one of the three companies camping on the outside of the fort, which is quite an honor for you boys.

c) The 26th will form one large company with myself, Chris Roberts and Randal Garrison serving as the Captain and Lieutenants. All line officers of the 26th are being asked to go back into the ranks for this event. We will determine the full slate of NCOs as we get closer but, please know that there will be some NCOs asked to go back into the ranks as well.

d) All NCOs and enlisted men are expected to wear the following uniform.

1) Richmond Depot Type II shell jacket with black taping around the collar and epaulets
2) Gray trousers
3) Gray kepi
4) 1850 South Carolina Militia Belt Buckle

e) What can you start doing at this point though – get the black tape on your RD II and start making plans to purchase a kepi (please order before February 2011)

f) All men will camp in A-Frames… plan on sharing a tent and if possible get 3 men into one.

g) We will portray the Meagher Guards

h) We will be able to have two streets and will be allowed a cook tent at the head of the street.

i) Only one fire per street with a guard on the fire at all times.

j) All companies will have a schedule to follow and we will have 24 hour guard on the grounds.
Each shift will be for one or two hours.

k) Passes will be given out to visit the local tavern.

l) Camps will be inspected twice a day and all farby modern items will be taken and held.

m) There will be morning and evening parade.

n) No battle flags – period. Only period First National Flags.

o) Headwear: Kepis only.

p) Civilians will also be able to camp at Patriots Point and maybe at Liberty Square in town.
