In reply to: Battalion Staff 's message, "Promotion to Sergeant Major" on Monday, September 13, 5:31pm

Gentlemen,

I welcome Frank as the battalion Sgt. Major. I marched and fought through 20 miles of piney woods in Louisiana in Frank's company at Banks Grand Retreat in 2007, and almost got shot at the Texas RiflesOutpost event earlier this year for maligning Frank's 1860's family as possible shady characters. I can affirm he is a fine leader and dedicated reenactor. He will be a Sgt Major worthy of the job in one of the best battalions in the hobby.

But, I gotta say, danged if I don't miss Sgt Major Crisp already. His decade as the battalion Sgt Major were during a time of several fine campaign focused large events, and he was glue for the battalion through some arduous weekends, including the Franklin event where the battalion fielded 10 companies, if I recall, giving the Sgt Major ample opportunity to exercise his talents. Mr. Crisp has been a role model for all the NCO's in the battalion, and has done so with a style that will not be replicated by any successor.

So, Welcome Frank, I'm glad to see you as our new Sgt Major. Wesley, I'm eager to offer you a bottle of the best beer in Texas when you fall in next as a private.

See you all at Liendo and Praire Grove, Arkansas.

Phil McBride
