Dears websurfers
I purchased a HP Omnibook CT (Pentium 166 MMX, 4.5 GB HDD, 48 MB RAM and F 1197 A CD drive); The HD was low level formatted, so that it was impossible to boot up to install any Windows.
This solution may be tried.
First, from another computer, using the installation CDROM of Win 95 or 98, you need to create a boot diskette.
Then, go to http://24.237.160.4/files/omnibook/ob8OO/Software/Bootdisk.
Download the 6 following files:
readme.txt
Autoexec.bat
Aspi8xx.sys
Config.sys
Sumcd.sys
Mscdex.sys
You'll need to copy these files on the boot diskette. For Win 98, you'll need to remove the cdrom drivers folder to provide space.
And normally, the wonder does occur, the CD drive being recognized, and the installation process does normally perform.
Good luck!
